Fund Raising
Fund raising activities are a part of Church life nowadays and in Polmont we organise these activities with fellowship and enjoyment for people of all ages. In 2010, the fund raising events were well supported by members of the Church, the local community, and often visitors from further afield, and the committee would like to thank all who supported the various events. A total of £3760 was raised throughout the year towards the Dry Rot Fund

2011 PROGRAMME

Numbers Quiz
The first event was the popular annual quiz, with the theme this year of Numbers. The clues were in an abbreviated form, and the answers were all numbers. For Example: “- - L in the A = " - - Letters in the alphabet", so the answer is 26. The quiz seems to have been quite challenging, as no all-correct answers were submitted. However, a number of entries were very close to being all-correct, and 4 winners were chosen.

The Cupcake Gallery
This event was held in the Church Hall in April. As the name suggested, cupcakes were the order of the day, and the number of cakes donated far exceeded our expectations. The quality and design of the cupcakes was excellent, the cakes beautifully decorated, and we have many talented bakers within the Church.

The Gallery part was held in the small hall, where exhibits of all things artistic were displayed. Paintings, photographs, knitting, crochet work, hand-painted china, scrapbooks, cross-stitching, embroidery, jewellery, et al. The overall effect was amazing. It was hard to recognise the small hall. We were particularly pleased to receive an exhibit of a silkscreen painting from the art class at Polmont Young Offenders Institution. A favourite exhibit was a pair of Rennie McIntosh style small chairs, hand crafted in wood. Not only do we have talented bakers, we have extremely talented artists and craftsmen and women.

Polmont Community Quiz
This was held in the Greenpark Centre in September. Twenty-three teams battled it out to become Polmont Community Quiz Champions 2011, with teams coming from local groups, Church groups, and individuals. There were five rounds of questions to test the knowledge of the teams.

There was a prize for the most humorous team name, and it was extremely difficult choosing a winner. Some of the near misses were “Hymns & Hers”, a team representing the Choir, “Calendar Girls”, representing the WRI, and “The Reel Jiggers”, representing the Scottish Country Dancing Association. After much deliberation, the winners were a team consisting of Mr & Mrs Rough, Alex Brown and Stephen Alexander, with the name “Rough & Readies, the answer’s in our headies”

After five rounds, only a few points separated the leading teams, and the winners were “Dougie & the dolls”, a team led by our own Doug Sheehan.

The committee would like to thank the following businesses, the Black Bull, Co-operative, Country Curls, Easiwash, Land & Sea, Loves, Millfield, and James Rae & Son, for their generous contribution to a very successful raffle.

Ceilidh
Our annual Ceildih was held in the Greenpark Centre on Saturday 22nd October. Once again, the Scottish Ceilidh band from Kirkcaldy provided the music, and Land & Sea provided the fish suppers.

Come Carolling
Our final event of the year was another favourite with many, a Carol Concert by Grangemouth Choral Society .
