POLMONT OLD PARISH CHURCH
"Reflections of Life in Polmont"
A Flower Festival, with the title of "Reflections of Life in Polmont", was held in the Church over two days in mid August and raised the sum of almost £2000 towards the car park fund. It is 12 years since the last flower festival was held and this year's brought to fore the many talents of the people in the church and the wider community of Polmont.
In addition to the various church organisations who put on displays, around another dozen local clubs and organisations plus 10 local businesses had floral displays related to their own particular interest. Many other local businesses and church members made generous donations towards the general decoration of the church. There was also a Memory Corner in the gallery where individuals could place their own displays in memory of relatives or friends.
The church was a hive of activity in the days preceding the festival and this was a great example of the everyone working together, helping each other and having a lot of fun and fellowship at the same time.
During the Festival a number of guest pianists and organists from other churches in the area displayed their skills at the piano and organ, offering a wide repertoire of music. This was much appreciated by the large numbers of people who came to view the floral displays, despite the appalling weather on the Saturday.
A large number of photographs were taken over the 2 days - these are just a small sample. A video was also made of the event.
