Day three activities
If you have an Advent Wreath - here is a short reading and ceremony before lighting your candle today.
John Ch8 V12: When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
Prayer: Dear God our Father, we watched in Wonder and Awe last night as we saw the Moon, Venus and Jupiter together in the night sky, we are reminded of the celestial lights and Your Creation as we light our simple candle. Loving God as we watch the little flame flicker, breaking up the darkness, we remember Your promise of Your Son who is the Light of the World. Help us each day in Advent to rediscover the excitement and renewal of Faith that come from believing in Jesus, the Christ Child. Amen.
Something to do today
Bible Reading:
Isaiah Ch60 v1 to 3 and 19 to 22.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end.
Then will all your people be righteous and they will possess the land forever. They are the shoot I have planted, the work of my hands, for the display of my splendor.
The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly." Amen.
Prayer: Dear God our Father we thank You for Your Word and the Reminder that You are Almighty God and that all people will come to Your Light in Jesus. We thank you for the many reminders of Your never ending Love all around us, help us in turn to return that love to others who are without Love, to those who are lonely, bereaved, ill or sad and depressed, grant that we may bring a little of Your light and love to their lives as we offer our prayer in Jesus name. Amen.
